Brewer Middle School Activities Band Brewer Middle School students can learn to play an instrument in the middle school band. Mrs. Nadeau welcomes students of all musical ability levels to join this group of musicians. Band students meet at 7:30 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the music room. Lesson groups also meet by grade level on orange or black days during related arts periods.  The Concert Band has performed at the Maine Music Educators State Conference, the Maine State House, the Maine Center for the Arts Three Bands Concert under the direction of David Shaffer, and has traditionally received high ratings at State Festivals Chorus Sing.....Sing a Song.....Come and lend your voice to the Brewer Middle School Chorus. Mrs. Nadeau works with chorus students at 7:30 am on Mondays. All interested students are encouraged to join. Drama (more details) Brewer Youth Theater, under the direction of Mr. Rich Kimball, provides an opportunity students to perform live theater. A number of productions each year involve students of all ages in one-act plays, musicals, and more. Our stage and auditorium give actors a first class place to bring their talents to the public. Interested students should listen to morning announcements and watch for audition posters before the next show. Jazz Band Band students that play an instrument used in jazz band can try out to join this competition band.  Students will enjoy the experience of playing a different style of music and challenging themselves to reach new levels of excellence.  There are two jazz bands this year due to a high level of interest.  Jazz Band I is the competition group and rehearses Wednesday mornings as well as scheduled rehearsals after school.  Jazz Band II is a jazz experience group and rehearses on Friday mornings.  The competition jazz band has gained state-wide recognition the past few years, taking third place last year.  Many soloists have received awards for their talented performances.  See Mrs. Nadeau for details if you are interested. Math Team Are numbers your thing? Join the math team and compete with other local schools to see who has the best math minds. Mr. Thompson invites you to look at the world with a mathematical eye and compete for your school. Morning Announcements Have you always wanted to be the local news anchor? Now you can be! Join the morning announcement team and learn to produce a news program. Reporters, camera crew, and more are needed to make this team work smoothly. See Mr. Page if you are interested in working to bring the news to Brewer Middle School each day. Outing Club Ready to play in the great outdoors? Interested in learning to ski, climb, or raft? The outing club is the place for you! Mr. Hutchins and Mr. Thompson may schedule chances for students to get out and experience Maine. Run for student council and represent your classmates in school government. You can work to make Brewer Middle School the best it can be while learning valuable skills about teamwork and compromise.
