Welcome to Capri Street School
CAPRI STREET SCHOOL
On behalf of the staff of Capri Street School, welcome! We are dedicated to our children and their families and seek to work collaboratively to provide students an excellent education within a nurturing environment.
At our school there are Pre Kindergarten classes offered in partnership with PENQUIS . It is a hybrid program that combines the elements of a Head Start Program with a public school Four Year Old Program. Our PreK follows the school year calendar and children are eligible if they are 4 years of age on or before October 15, 2009. Bussing is also provided. Plans are underway for the 2009/2010 school year. Please contact our secretary, Mrs. Nancy Eremita at 989-8620 for any information or registration materials.
In addition to the PreK program, there are 6 Kindergarten classes at Capri Street School. Children who are 5 years old on or before October 15, 2009 are eligible to enroll for the 2009/2010 school year. In order to staff our school adequately, it is important to register early. As with PreK enrollment, please contact Mrs. Eremita to register your child.
A child’s learning begins at birth. Parents are their child’s first and most important teachers. Valuable language, memory, motor and social skills are learned early in life. At the PreK and Kindergarten levels, we continue to build on that foundation to provide a successful school experience that combines educational achievement with positive social growth.
Play is the work of childhood and there are many opportunities for play. We seek to strike a balance between the direct teaching of skills, modeling social growth through the Community of Caring Program and providing opportunities for exploratory learning through play, literacy and numeracy activities.
Our facility is small and we are anxiously awaiting our new PreK-Grade 8 school which is scheduled to be open in September 2011. It will be a great opportunity to have all our students under one, very large, roof!
I look forward to welcoming students and parents to our school. Working together, we can do great things for children.
