Here at the Brewer High School Writing Center we believe it's better to show you what a good writer does, every time you write, instead of just fixing your paper for you. Our belief centers around the idea that if we can offer tips on "big picture stuff" such as how you should approach writing assignments and how to organize your thoughts, then those will be writing skills you can use always, making you a more thoughtful writer who produces better work.
With that in mind, we like to have casual conversations about a person's writing no matter the level or subject matter. Whether it is an English paper, history essay, lab report, etc.- we want to talk with you! If you have an assignment but don't know where to begin we are always willing to have a brainstorm session with you.
So...How do you sign up for an appointment?
Come visit us in the BHS library and one of our editors will either work with you then or they can write you a pass for a study hall.
What should you bring?
We ask that you bring your assignment/prompt, your first draft of the assignment (if possible), and any relevant materials (text books, readings, etc.)
