WELCOMING NEXT YEAR'S KINDERGARTEN CLASS
On Tuesday, April 1st we welcomed the class of 2021 to the Capri St. School. 64 students and their parents participated in three sessions of orientation. If you know of anyone who has not registered for kindergarten next year, please remind them to call the Capri St. School office as soon as possible.

BOX TOPS
Thanks for your help as you clip Box Tops for Education and send them in to the Capri St. School. Continue collecting for us. We do continue this collection all year, so talk with friends, neighbors and relatives and have them start clipping for us.

CLASS PLACEMENTS
Parents have called recently to inquire about class placements for the upcoming school year. On Friday, April 11th, a letter and a form will come home with your children. This gives parents an opportunity to share information with the school that helps us know about your child(ren)'s learning style. This form needs to be returned by May 9th. Many factors are taken into consideration when placing children for next year, but balancing classrooms is important to the success of every student and classroom.

AUTHOR'S DAY AT CAPRI ST SCHOOL
Coming in May will be Robert Pottle, local children's author and storyteller. Mr. Pottle will visit all three elementary schools throughout the week of May 19th. More details will follow in the May newsletter.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
We have had several calls inquiring about the date of the last day of school. Maine students must attend school for a minimum 175 days. Having used more days as snow days this year thus far, the last student day of the year will be June 23rd. If we should have any other weather related days off, additional days will be added.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS:
Kindergarten Musical will be held at the Brewer Auditorium on Friday evening, June 13th.

BREWER PRE-K TAKING REGISTRATIONS FOR NEXT YEAR
The Brewer Pre-kindergarten classes that are located at Capri St. School are taking applications for the 2008-09 school year. Call today (973-3537) to reserve a spot for your four year old. An application will be sent to you.

WELCOMING MS.CURRY
Ms. Jennifer Curry began her student teaching with Mrs. Perkins recently. We welcome her to the Capri St. School. Ms. Megan Kelly continues to work with Mrs. BarryGrant through May completing her student teaching. We are fortunate to have their help as they learn from our teachers.

NURSERY RHYME DAY GREAT SUCCESS
On March 26th, children visited all the Capri St. classrooms to practice their rhyming skills. Each teacher planned activities for the students focusing on a popular nursery rhyme. Students were sent home with a nursery rhyme book so that parents and children could practice reading them together. The ability to hear rhymes — knowing that cat rhymes with hat, but not with bag — is an essential skill for learning to read.

VISITING THE DENTIST
Last week, all classes visited a local dentist to learn more about dental health care. Students had a good time and learned a lot.
