Welcome to State Street School

|
Each year we look forward to providing exciting and challenging school curricula and ensuring that students have every opportunity to be successful as they work to achieve the standards set forth by the Maine Learning Results. As we work toward these goals, we expect that children will use the Community of Caring values of respect, responsibility, caring, trust, and family to ensure that the school community is a safe and nurturing environment for all.
The State Street School houses five classes of fourth grade students and five classes of fifth grade students. Physical Education classes are held next door at the Brewer Middle School which makes for a nice transition when students move on to the Middle School level. Students also have lunch at the Middle School cafeteria. Art and Music are offered to all children in the school. The Library is open two days a week for scheduled classroom use. The federally-funded Title I Reading and Math program and special education programs are offered to students who may qualify for those services. Laptops have become great learning tools that provide opportunities for integrated studies and on-line research as students work to achieve the goals of the Maine Learning Results.
Research indicates that children are most successful in school when their parents are actively involved in the learning process. The school staff encourages cooperation between home and school in establishing and achieving educational goals for your children. There are various opportunities for parent involvement including, but not limited to, regular contact with teachers, PTU participation, and volunteerism, to name a few.
The State Street School staff looks forward to working with parents and children to build a strong and enthusiastic community of learners.
