District VI Jazz Festival

The Brewer Middle School Jazz Band, made us proud once again last Friday at the District VI Jazz Festival at Ellsworth High School, earning a "I" rating, or exceeds the standards for musical performance. All three soloists, Nick Turner, Greg Warmuth, and Jayson Vanidestine earned certificates for outstanding musical performance. The band will be playing at the State Jazz Festival at Nokomis HS on March 20. We hope you can come and cheer us on!

On March 25, the Brewer Middle School Concert Band will be performing at the Three Bands Gala Concert at 7 PM in the Collins Center for the Arts at UMaine. Hampden Academy and UMaine Concert Bands will round out the three groups, performing separately and then combining at the end for a final rousing march. The concert benefits Acadia Youth Services through the Keep the Promise campaign. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for students with ID, under 17, and seniors over 62. Tickets may be purchased at www.acadiahospital.org, by calling 973-5055, or at the door the night of the performance.

March 31 will be the annual Brewer Middle School Jazz Night at 7 PM in the BMS gym. It will include BMS Jazz Bands I and II and the Queen City Big Band, an adult community big band featuring several members of our music department. Admission is free to this fun night of great jazz music!
