Middle School Students Visit Shaw Institute

Twenty-eight 6th, 7th and 8th graders participated in a science field trip to the Shaw Institute, a scientific research organization in Blue Hill, Maine.  The intention of this field research was to talk and learn from experts in preparation for the Maine Science Festival competition.

The Shaw Institute's mission is to discover and expose environmental threats to people and wildlife through innovative science and global partnerships to improve human and ecological health. The staff presented their research on plastics, ocean pollution, flame retardants, and how climate change has informed public opinion and fueled policy.
