BCS Family Update

8/28/2020

Dear Families:

We are so excited to welcome our students back to school on September 3d and 4th!  We realize that there has been A LOT of information coming your way, and we are so appreciative of your time and efforts in preparing for the upcoming school year. With less than one week away, we wanted to reach out with some additional information/reminders about the start of school.  We will also link some of the previous communications that have been shared at the end of this letter, so that you have all of the information in one spot.

Our amazing staff have been working very hard to prepare for the opening of school. At this point, you should have heard from your homeroom/classroom teacher, as they have been reaching out to families to introduce themselves and to schedule a virtual open house for early next week. If you have not been in contact with them, please call the office at 404-5700, and we will help you connect with them.

Prior to the start of each in person learning day, our School Department is requiring that families pre-screen students for temperatures and other common symptoms at home. A link to the pre-screening guide can be found at the bottom of this document. We ask that if your child has any of these symptoms, you do not send them to school, and you call the office to report their absence as you normally would. Arrival and Dismissal procedures are listed below. As students arrive at school, they will need to have their face mask on prior to entering the building.

Arrival Details/Drop off procedure

Middle School Arrivals

Grades 7 & 8 Drop off - 7:30-7:45

Grades 5 & 6 Drop off - 7:45-8:00

Elementary Arrivals

Grades 3 & 4 Drop off - 8:00-8:15

Grades 1 & 2 Drop off - 8:15-8:30

Grades PK & K Drop off - 8:30-8:40

For families with children at multiple grade levels, you may drop any middle school students off during the middle school times, and any elementary students during the elementary times. (We ask that you do not drop students off early, as there will not be supervision before the times listed below.)  Pre-K families should plan to park in the lot by the marquee and walk their child to the front entrance to sign them in. All others can pull up to the curb in the traffic circle, and let the children get out on the passenger side of the vehicle. Please remind your child(ren) to put their face covering on before they exit the vehicle. If your child is unable to get out on their own, feel free to park in the lot, and walk them to the main entrance. We will have plenty of staff available on the first few days to help students find their way inside and to their classrooms. Please understand that due to distancing requirements, we cannot physically help any child into the building.

Dismissal Details/pick up procedure

MS Dismissals

Grades 7 & 8 Pick up - 1:45

Grades 5 & 6 Pick up - 2:00

Elementary Dismissals

Grades 3 & 4 Pick up - 2:35

Grades 1 & 2 Pick up - 2:45

Grades PK & K Pick up - 2:55

If you have multiple students in elementary, or multiple students in middle school, you may pick them up at the same time. (Please communicate any need like this directly to classroom teachers.) Grades 3-8 will be exiting through the front doors, so you may wait in your vehicle by the curb on the traffic circle for them. Grade K-2 students will exit on the gate beside Parkway South, and Pre-k will be dismissed (signed out) at the gate right beside the main lobby door. As with morning arrival, Pre-K families will want to park in the lot by the marquee and walk to the gate to meet their child.

Bussing is provided through Cyr bus, and the routes should be similar to previous years. These will be posted on our website.

Thank you for your attention to all of the information and safety guidelines that have been sent out. Working together, we know that we can make this year a great one for our children!

Sincerely,

Jason Richards, Middle School Principal

Allison Kahkonen, Elementary Principal

Samantha Pangburn, Assistant Principal
