The Brewer School Department Chess teams competed in the 2019 State Scholastic Team Chess Championship on Saturday, March 2, 2019. There were 393 players and 63 teams which marked this tournament as one of the biggest chess tournaments ever held in Maine.
The K-6 Championship section, like the K-8 Championship section, fielded 81 players.
Brewer Middle School students and Lincolnville Central School finished as co-champions with 15.5 points. Top point earners for Brewer players were: Will Grover (3.5), Zachary Arnold (3.0), Matthew Lo (3.0), Dhruv Jan ( 3.0), and Ben Mylnski (3.0).
