Happy December!

BCS Family Update

December, 2023

November was a very busy month here at school and December is looking to be just as busy! First of all, we want to thank all families who took time on November 20th and 21st to meet with their child(s) teacher(s.)  As always, we had great attendance and our staff are very appreciative of your support. Additionally, here are some of the recent and upcoming things happening here at BCS.

  • World Kindness day was November 13th.  The student council put together a fun week-long activity where everyone could track acts of kindness throughout the week.  Students were able to explain their activity and to be able to share their ideas/examples with students!

  • On November 16th, our students in grades 3-5 were treated to a performance put on by students from BHS in our Performing Arts Center. Thank you to BHS and Mr. Rich Kimball for offering to perform for us!

  • Winter sports and activities are well underway. We have many students participating in cheering, basketball, drama, chess, chorus, band, student council, and civil rights team.

  • December 8th is an early release day. Middle school students are dismissed at 10:50 and Elementary dismissal begins at 11:45  that day.

  • Winter Concerts will be held on 12/13 (band) and 12/14 (chorus). We hope to see many of our families there!

  • There is no school on December 22, which is the first day of vacation. Our first day back at school will be January 2, 2024.

  • The BCS PTU will be holding their next meeting on January 9th at 6:00pm in the library.  All are welcome.

Report cards from the first trimester will be coming home today with students. Families of students in grades 2-8 will also receive the most recent state testing report for your students. Also, if your student has had any absences, you will notice a decimal vs. a whole number on their attendance report due to a glitch in the scheduling system. We apologize for any confusion this causes, as 1 day absent was printed as .99, 2 days as 1.98, etc.

Finally, just a reminder that the cold weather is here. Please remind your student to come to school each day prepared with appropriate clothing for wintertime. We have outside recess as long as the “feels like” temperature is 10 or above!

As always, thank you for your continued support of our school. We hope you have a great weekend!
