School Safety
We have had our first few safety rehearsals and evacuation drills with the help of SRO Chubbuck and the fire department. This week Cyr Bus drivers spent a day reviewing bus safety and practicing school bus evacuations with all students. Next week, the Brewer Fire Department will visit the school and discuss Fire Safety with equipment demonstrations for Fire Safety Awareness Week.
Creating A Classroom Community
To kick off the school year, Mrs. Gauvin’s 7th grade reading students teamed up for a timed, 100-piece puzzle challenge. After dividing the pieces equally, students focused on solving the puzzle while closely observing their group’s dynamics. During the post-activity debrief, the class shared what worked well and analyzed the roadblocks they faced. The exercise successfully demonstrated how essential communication, problem-solving, teamwork, patience, and trust are to building a thriving classroom community.
Nature Walk
Our Grade 3 students recently enjoyed a walk to Sherwood Forest Nature Trail! Students participated in a nature themed scavenger hunt while exploring the trail and observing the world around them. They had the opportunity to get outside, enjoy fresh air, and take a closer look at the plants, trees, animals, and other interesting things found in nature. It was a wonderful way for students to learn, explore, and enjoy the outdoors together.
PTU (Parents and Teachers United) Trunk-or-Treat
Brewer Community School PTU’s annual Trunk-or-Treat will be held on Friday, October 23rd from 5:30-7 pm. The location will be moved to the BACK PARKING LOT near the track and PAC entrance. All students are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult! Reminder: this is a PET FREE EVENT! PTU will be collecting donations (suggested $1 per student) at this event. There is still room for more “trunks”, if you are interested in participating with a decorated trunk please scan the QR code or click the link to sign up!
BCS Truck or Treat 2026
The next fundraising event will be at Uno’s in Bangor on October 21st (ALL DAY EVENT). Uno’s will donate 20% of your check to the Brewer Community School PTU. The attached ticket/flyer must be presented or displayed on the phone in order for the sale to count. Dine-in or takeout orders are included, however orders placed with DoorDash or Uber Eats apps will not count towards the event.
Rocktoberfest
BCS Student Council will host Rocktoberfest on Friday, October 30th at the Community School track from 4-5:30 pm. Grades 5-8 are invited to attend and join in the fun with music, food, games, and a costume contest with prizes. The $5.00 admission includes:
Water, choice of burger, hotdog, or veggie burger with tater tots, and apple crisp with ice cream for dessert. (No additional concessions will be sold) Halloween Costume Contest will be judged by BCS Student Council and prizes will be awarded.
