On October 25th & 26th, Kat Johnson Senior Museum Educator and Marketing Manager at the University of Maine Museum of Art in downtown Bangor took Brewer Community School, GT art students through two contemporary art exhibits, Olio by Darren Emenau and Second Nature by Shelly Reed. Kat Johnson also introduced the permanent exhibit through the lens of a curator. Students were able to experience the work of professional artist’s original design and concepts as in Emenau’s playful ceramic vessels and Reed’s dramatic large scale paintings. Afterwards students participated in a reductive printmaking activity based on the artwork discussed on the tour.
