BCS December Update

BCS Family Update

December, 2022

It has been a very busy month so far here at school! Winter sports and activities are well underway, along with many special events happening.  Here are just a few things that have been going on in the past few weeks:

  • On December 7th, our students in grades 2-4 were treated to a performance of Charlotte's Web, put on by students from BHS in our very own Performing Arts Center. Thank you to BHS and Mr. Rich Kimball for offering to perform for us!

  • Staff from the Challenger Learning Center visited Mrs. Dee Bryant’s Class on the afternoon of December 6th. Students were led through the process of designing their own rockets, which they then “set off” to see how far they would travel!

  • Middle school students had their second “Incentive Day” of the year on 12/9. Students enjoyed selecting a merit activity of their choice. Choices included paint a festive flower pot, outside walk with hot cocoa, board games, paper airplane making contest, jail ball in the gym, cookie decorating, manicures and makeup, Harry Potter trivia, ping pong, escape room, movie making, and Twilight Zone trivia.

  • Grade 3 and 4 students got to “choose their own” related arts class on 12/9. Choices included art exploration, Library reading, coloring, games and legos, Music "boom whackers," Medic and Ultimate Knockdown in the gymnasiums, and Coding in the STEM room.

  • Winter Concerts were held on 12/14 and 12/15 for our middle school band and elementary chorus. Great job to all of our students and our fabulous music teachers, Mrs. Nadeau and Ms. Ellis!

  • Assemblies were held throughout the month with each grade level k-8. This was a great time to review some expectations in our grade level teams as well as to celebrate all of their great work so far this year!

Just a reminder that the cold weather is here. Please remind your student to come to school each day prepared with appropriate clothing for wintertime- we have outside recess as long as the “feels like” temperature is 10 or above!  Finally, we have a short week coming up next week, ending with an early release day on 12/22. Vacation will run through January 2nd, with a return to school on 1/3/2023.

On behalf of the entire BCS staff, we would like to wish all students and their families a safe and happy Holiday break!!
